Scott Biffin's Guide to Coffee Trading- Trends, Challenges, and Opportunities Ahead
The coffee trading market is a dynamic and complex sector that reflects global economic trends, environmental changes, and evolving consumer preferences. As an experienced trader with a deep understanding of both the cotton and coffee markets, I, Scott Biffin, have witnessed firsthand the shifts and developments within this industry. This blog post delves into the current trends, challenges, and opportunities within the coffee trading market, providing insights into what shapes this vital global commodity.
Current Trends in Coffee Trading
1. Growing Demand for Specialty Coffee
One of the most notable trends in coffee trading is the growing demand for specialty coffee. Consumers are increasingly seeking high-quality, unique coffee experiences, driven by a desire for more than just a caffeine fix. Specialty coffee, which is often characterized by its distinct flavors, sustainable sourcing, and artisanal production methods, is capturing a larger share of the market. This trend is reflected in the rising number of specialty coffee shops and the premium pricing of high-quality beans.
Tumblr media
2. Sustainability and Ethical Sourcing
Sustainability has become a crucial factor in the coffee trading market. Consumers and businesses alike are placing greater emphasis on ethical sourcing practices and environmental responsibility. This shift is driving coffee traders to focus on sourcing beans from sustainable farms that employ eco-friendly practices. Certifications such as Fair Trade, Rainforest Alliance, and Organic are becoming more prominent, signaling a commitment to both social and environmental standards.
3. Technological Advancements
Technology is transforming the coffee trading market in several ways. From precision agriculture to blockchain traceability, technological advancements are enhancing the efficiency and transparency of coffee production and trading. Precision agriculture techniques, including the use of drones and sensors, are helping farmers optimize crop yields and reduce waste. Meanwhile, blockchain technology is providing greater transparency in the supply chain, allowing consumers to trace the origin of their coffee with greater accuracy.
4. Emerging Markets
The global coffee market is experiencing growth in emerging markets, particularly in Asia and Africa. As these regions develop economically and their middle classes expand, the demand for coffee is increasing. Countries such as China and India are seeing rising coffee consumption, driven by changing lifestyles and increasing urbanization. This trend presents new opportunities for coffee traders to tap into these growing markets and establish new trading relationships.
Challenges Facing the Coffee Trading Market
1. Climate Change
Climate change poses a significant challenge to the coffee trading market. Rising temperatures, changing precipitation patterns, and extreme weather events are affecting coffee-growing regions around the world. Coffee plants are sensitive to climate variations, and disruptions in growing conditions can lead to reduced yields and lower quality beans. Traders must navigate these challenges by adapting their sourcing strategies and supporting sustainable practices that help mitigate the impact of climate change.
2. Price Volatility
The coffee market is known for its price volatility, which can be attributed to various factors, including supply and demand fluctuations, geopolitical events, and currency fluctuations. Coffee prices can experience sharp fluctuations, impacting both traders and consumers. Managing price risk and ensuring stable pricing for consumers while maintaining profitability is a key challenge for coffee traders.
3. Supply Chain Disruptions
Supply chain disruptions can significantly impact the coffee trading market. Events such as natural disasters, political instability, and logistical challenges can disrupt the flow of coffee from producers to consumers. The COVID-19 pandemic, for example, highlighted vulnerabilities in global supply chains and emphasized the need for resilience and flexibility. Coffee traders must develop strategies to manage and mitigate supply chain risks to ensure a steady supply of coffee.
4. Labor and Ethical Issues
Labor conditions in coffee-producing regions can also present challenges. Issues such as low wages, poor working conditions, and child labor are concerns that can affect the ethical sourcing of coffee. Traders and buyers must address these issues by working with reputable suppliers, supporting fair labor practices, and ensuring compliance with ethical standards.
Opportunities in the Coffee Trading Market
1. Direct Trade Relationships
One opportunity for coffee traders is the development of direct trade relationships with coffee producers. Direct trade allows traders to establish closer connections with farmers, ensuring better quality control and fair compensation for their products. This approach can also help build strong, long-term partnerships and improve transparency in the supply chain.
2. Innovation in Coffee Products
The coffee industry is ripe for innovation, with opportunities for traders to explore new coffee products and formats. Innovations such as ready-to-drink coffee beverages, cold brew, and specialty blends are gaining popularity. Traders can capitalize on these trends by diversifying their product offerings and exploring new market segments.
3. Investment in Sustainable Practices
Investing in sustainable practices presents both an opportunity and a responsibility for coffee traders. By supporting environmentally friendly farming practices, investing in reforestation projects, and promoting social responsibility, traders can contribute to the long-term health of the coffee industry. Additionally, sustainability can be a selling point for consumers who are increasingly making purchasing decisions based on environmental and ethical considerations.
4. Expanding Market Presence
As emerging markets continue to grow, coffee traders have the opportunity to expand their market presence in these regions. Establishing a foothold in developing markets can lead to new revenue streams and increased market share. Traders can explore partnerships with local distributors, invest in marketing strategies tailored to regional preferences, and adapt their offerings to meet the demands of these growing markets.
5. Leveraging Data and Analytics
Data and analytics are powerful tools for making informed decisions in the coffee trading market. By leveraging data on market trends, consumer preferences, and supply chain dynamics, traders can gain valuable insights that drive strategic decision-making. Investing in data analytics tools and technologies can enhance market forecasting, optimize pricing strategies, and improve overall operational efficiency.
Tumblr media
The coffee trading market is a dynamic and evolving sector characterized by shifting trends, significant challenges, and promising opportunities. As consumers demand higher quality and more sustainable coffee, traders must navigate these changes while adapting to a complex global landscape. By embracing innovation, investing in sustainability, and leveraging data, coffee traders can position themselves for success in this exciting and ever-changing industry.
As an experienced trader with a passion for coffee and a deep understanding of the market, I look forward to continuing to explore the evolving world of coffee trading and contributing to its growth and development. Whether you're a coffee enthusiast, a trader, or someone interested in the global coffee supply chain, the journey of coffee from bean to cup is a fascinating one that reflects the intersection of commerce, culture, and innovation.

The Trader’s Secret Weapon: Caffeine and a Winning Mindset
In the world of stock trading, where every second and every decision matters, a strong mindset is key. And if there’s one thing that powers that mindset better than any indicator, it’s coffee. For traders, caffeine isn’t just a boost—it’s a way to stay sharp, keep focused, and weather the inevitable highs and lows of the market. Paired with a powerful outlook, coffee becomes the ultimate tool for success.
Mornings are when traders gather information, analyze overnight trends, and prepare for the market’s opening bell. This is when coffee plays its biggest role, fueling the meticulous preparation that can make or break a day. A mug like the Stonks Coffee Mug brings a light-hearted touch to those early hours, reminding traders that no matter how volatile things get, they’re ready to take it on.
It’s not just about keeping alert. The right coffee can become part of a trader’s strategy, providing a ritual that helps them focus on the moment, shake off market noise, and stick to their plans. Trading can be a rollercoaster, and a strong cup of coffee offers the grounding energy needed to stay patient and rational, even during a volatile day. There’s a reason so many traders make coffee an essential part of their setup—it’s a comfort that calms the nerves and keeps the mind steady.
Afternoons are a chance to assess progress, make adjustments, and, sometimes, take a deep breath before diving back in. For those in it for the long haul, coffee isn’t just a one-time boost; it’s a companion that offers a moment to pause and re-center. A bold mug can bring a bit of humor to these moments, helping traders shake off the intensity of the day and refocus.
So, what makes coffee the secret weapon of so many traders? It’s not just the caffeine—it’s the resilience it represents. Coffee is a small reminder of a trader’s grit, helping them stick to their strategies, roll with the punches, and stay ready for the next move. If you’re a trader who lives for the challenge, embrace coffee as part of your arsenal, because success isn’t just about skill; it’s about staying sharp, strong, and steady from morning to close.

[🌾] 003. market- favorite enemy series
masterlist
Tumblr media
the sun shone brightly that saturday morning, casting warm rays over the houses that lined the narrow street. the homes of you and mingyu were separated by just a street and a childhood rivalry that never seemed to fade, no matter the age. childhood friends who spent more time bickering than anything else, you told everyone you were enemies, but the feeling went far beyond mutual teasing.
you sleepily walked downstairs, the familiar aroma of fresh coffee filling the kitchen and welcoming you comfortingly. dressed in loose pajamas, you entered the kitchen distractedly, waving to your mother who was finishing up breakfast. however, when you looked up, you froze.
sitting in your favorite spot, right next to your mother, was mingyu. he smiled mischievously when he noticed the look of displeasure on your face. it was a smug smile, as if he knew exactly what he was doing.
"good morning, slacker," he teased, taking a sip of coffee as if he owned the place.
you narrowed your eyes. "who let this imposter in?"
"imposter? are you hearing this, eomeoni?" mingyu shot back, redirecting the conversation to your mom, laughing.
you rolled your eyes, moving closer to the table and deliberately bumping his head as you sat down. mingyu complained, rubbing the spot where you hit him, but his smile didn't fade. you settled in across from him, making it clear you were there to annoy him just as much as he was annoying you.
"you know that's my spot, right?" you grumbled, pushing a piece of toast onto your plate.
"i know," he replied with a cheeky grin, pushing his coffee cup toward you. "but whoever wakes up late gets the leftover spot."
"oh yeah?" you took his cup, bringing it to your lips and taking a sip, just to see his reaction. mingyu gasped, staring at you in disbelief.
"hey, that's my coffee!" he protested, but didn't move to take the cup back.
"it's mine now." you took a long, deliberate sip, your eyes locked on his the entire time.
your mom, watching the amusing interaction between the two of you, seized the moment to ask a favor. “y/n, why don't you and mingyu go to the market to pick up the order for me? it's too heavy for me to carry.”
you almost choked on your coffee, turning to your mom with an exaggerated look of horror. “go with him? in the same car?”
your mom laughed, shaking her head. “oh, stop it. it's just a quick trip to the market.”
you shot a glare at mingyu, who just smiled. "come on, y/n. don't be a killjoy. or are you afraid to be alone with me?"
“i'm not afraid of anything, especially not you,” you muttered, but your mom gave you that insistent look you couldn't ignore.
a few minutes later, you were in mingyu's car. he unlocked the door and, before you got in, started laying down his rules with the authority of a drill sergeant.
“first thing: get in with clean feet. i don't want you dirtying up my car. second: don't mess with the seat, it's adjusted exactly how i like it. third: no playing your horrible music. and-”
before he could continue, you had already entered with dirty feet on purpose, adjusted the seat forward, and started fiddling with the radio to play your peculiar playlist that he couldn't stand. mingyu looked at you in disbelief.
“i just told you the rules!” he exclaimed, but you just shrugged, acting as if you hadn't heard anything.
“you didn't expect me to obey, did you?” you said casually, as if it were the most obvious thing in the world.
mingyu grumbled but couldn't help but smile. your stubbornness was one of the things he hated and loved at the same time. the drive to the market was filled with silly arguments about the music, the seat adjustment, and the dirty shoes, but deep down, that was your dynamic—and neither of you would trade it for anything.
when you arrived at the market, mingyu went straight to pick up the order. you, however, quickly got distracted in the snacks aisle, grabbing colorful packets and analyzing each one. mingyu, with the heavy bags in hand, watched you from afar, shaking his head but with a soft smile he couldn't contain.
after a few minutes, you noticed his presence, the heavy bags pulling his arms down. you ran over to him, grabbing one of the bags.
"let me help, you're carrying everything," you said, trying to lighten his load.
mingyu shook his head. “i can handle it, y/n. these bags are too heavy for you.”
you insisted, trying to take the bag back. "i'm not made of porcelain, mingyu. besides, if you pass out here, how will i explain it to my mom?"
he laughed, finally giving in and letting you take one of the bags. your fingers brushed his for a moment, and both of you fell silent, the weight of the interaction both familiar and yet different. you held the bag with determination, and mingyu watched in silence, with a mix of pride and something else he preferred not to name.
as you walked back to the car, mingyu glanced at you out of the corner of his eye, noticing the frown on your face as you carried the bag. this was the same y/n—stubborn and independent—and he couldn't imagine his life without those daily bickering sessions. maybe you were childhood enemies, but it was the best enmity he could have.
you walked side by side toward the parking lot, the bags swaying gently in your hands. you walked in silence, a comfortable silence that you rarely shared, but that seemed perfectly fitting at that moment.
as mingyu talked about some random topic, you suddenly stopped, your eyes widening as you spotted someone familiar approaching from the opposite direction. the playful smile on your face vanished instantly, and you instinctively hid behind mingyu, using his body as a shield. he stopped walking, frowning in confusion at your behavior.
"y/n, what are you doing?" he asked, turning his head to try and see you.
before you could answer, mingyu noticed the figure approaching. his body automatically tensed, recognizing the man heading toward you with a sneering smile. it was your ex-boyfriend, a guy mingyu could never stand. he knew the guy was a jerk, the kind of person who made you wonder how someone as smart as you had fallen for his charm.
your ex stopped in front of you, his eyes piercing you with an unpleasant familiarity. “y/n, what a coincidence to run into you here,” he said, his tone dripping with sarcasm.
you didn't respond, keeping yourself firmly behind mingyu, who, sensing your discomfort, adopted a protective stance. he moved slightly to block the man's view of you, shooting a hard look that said much more than words could express.
"no coincidence at all," mingyu shot back, his voice firm and cold. "what do you want?"
your ex gave a sarcastic smile, ignoring the question and trying to peek at you behind mingyu. "just wanted to say hi. it's been a while, right, y/n?" he said, stepping closer.
you remained silent, trying to make yourself invisible, but mingyu had no patience for games. he took a large step forward, forcing the guy to back off a bit.
“she doesn't want to talk to you. so you'd better move on and stop bothering her,” mingyu said, his voice carrying authority. he didn't raise his voice, but the implicit threat was clear.
your ex found it amusing, but he knew that with mingyu by your side, he wouldn't be able to get to you. "all right, all right, no need to get mad hyung," he said mockingly, casting one last look at you before walking away.
as soon as he disappeared from view, you let out a shaky sigh, feeling the weight of relief mixed with the adrenaline still coursing through your veins. mingyu turned to you, his face relaxing as he noticed how shaken you were. the silence stretched for a moment, laden with emotions neither of you knew how to express.
not knowing exactly how to break the tension, mingyu decided to follow his usual instinct – to tease you. a wry smile appeared on his lips as you both headed back to the car.
“you don’t know how to do anything right, do you?” he began, a playful tone in his voice. “not even pick a decent boyfriend.”
you looked at him, first with a surprised expression, which quickly turned into a mix of irritation and relief. the familiar teasing was, in a way, comforting. “look who’s talking,” you retorted, trying to sound confident, but there was still a slight tremor in your voice. “as if you were an expert in picking girlfriends.”
mingyu laughed, that warm laugh that always seemed to ease any tension. “i might not be an expert, but at least i don’t hide behind other people,” he teased, giving you a light nudge with his elbow.
you gave him a gentle tap on the arm, which only made him laugh more. “you’re an idiot,” you murmured, but there was a faint smile on your lips.
when you finally got into the car, the atmosphere felt lighter. mingyu glanced at you, who was looking out the window, trying to collect your thoughts. he could see you were still trying to process what had happened, so, for the first time in a long time, he decided to say nothing. the silence was comfortable, and sometimes, it was all you needed.
as he drove back home, with the radio playing softly the song you had chosen, mingyu gave a slight smile, more to himself than anyone else.
“hey, you,” he finally said, his voice softer than usual.
“what’s up, gyu?” you responded, still looking out the window, but with a somewhat calmer tone.
“you know i’m here for you, right?” the words came out without much pretense, but their meaning was much deeper than anything else he could have said.
you turned to look at him, a serious expression on your face before you finally relaxed. “i know,” you replied softly, and this time, without any teasing.
and, for the first time that day, the silence between you was more than just a pause – it was an understanding.

in addition to being prone to an obvious naturalistic fallacy, the oft-repeated claim that various supplements / herbs / botanicals are being somehow suppressed by pharmaceutical interests seeking to protect their own profits ('they would rather sell you a pill') belies a clear misunderstanding of the relationship between 'industrial' pharmacology and plant matter. bioprospecting, the search for plants and molecular components of plants that can be developed into commercial products, has been one of the economic motivations and rationalisations for european colonialism and imperialism since the so-called 'age of exploration'. state-funded bioprospectors specifically sought 'exotic' plants that could be imported to europe and sold as food or materia medica—often both, as in the cases of coffee or chocolate—or, even better, cultivated in 'economic' botanical gardens attached to universities, medical schools, or royal palaces and scientific institutions.
this fundamental attitude toward the knowledge systems and medical practices of colonised people—the position, characterising eg much 'ethnobotany', that such knowledge is a resource for imperialist powers and pharmaceutical manufacturers to mine and profit from—is not some kind of bygone historical relic. for example, since the 1880s companies including pfizer, bristol-myers squibb, and unilever have sought to create pharmaceuticals from african medicinal plants, such as strophanthus, cryptolepis, and grains of paradise. in india, state-created databases of valuable 'traditional' medicines have appeared partly in response to a revival of bioprospecting since the 1980s, in an increasingly bureaucratised form characterised by profit-sharing agreements between scientists and local communities that has nonetheless been referred to as "biocapitalism". a 1990 paper published in the proceedings of the novartis foundation symposium (then the ciba foundation symposium) spelled out this form of epistemic colonialism quite bluntly:
Ethnobotany, ethnomedicine, folk medicine and traditional medicine can provide information that is useful as a 'pre-screen' to select plants for experimental pharmacological studies.
there is no inherent oppositional relationship between pharmaceutical industry and 'natural' or plant-based cures. there are of course plenty of examples of bioprospecting that failed to translate into consumer markets: ginseng, introduced to europe in the 17th century through the mercantile system and the east india company, found only limited success in european pharmacology. and there are cases in which knowledge with potential market value has actually been suppressed for other reasons: the peacock flower, used as an abortifacient in the west indies, was 'discovered' by colonial bioprospectors in the 18th century; the plant itself moved easily to europe, but knowledge of its use in reproductive medicine became the subject of a "culturally cultivated ignorance," resulting from a combination of funding priorities, national policies, colonial trade patterns, gender politics, and the functioning of scientific institutions. this form of knowledge suppression was never the result of a conflict wherein bioprospectors or pharmacists viewed the peacock flower as a threat to their own profits; on the contrary, they essentially sacrificed potential financial benefits as a result of the political and social factors that made abortifacient knowledge 'unknowable' in certain state and commercial contexts.
exploitation of plant matter in pharmacology is not a frictionless or infallible process. but the sort of conspiratorial thinking that attempts to position plant therapeutics and 'big pharma' as oppositional or competitive forces is an ahistorical and opportunistic example of appealing to nominally anti-capitalist rhetoric without any deeper understanding of the actual mechanisms of capitalism and colonialism at play. this is of course true whether or not the person making such claims has any personal financial stake in them, though it is of course also true that, often, they do hold such stakes.

Okay maybe this is a known thing and I’m just spouting nonsense or both Idek it’s half one in the morning and I was meant to be getting an early night but YOU GUYS I was just listening to my Soc audiobook and in chapter 18 when Kaz is remembering the coffee shop and the Hertzoon scam we learn that the first trade major trade Jordie and Kaz were privy to and I’m pretty sure Jordie put a little money into was A CHANGE IN THE SUGAR MARKET.
And of all the things Kaz might have been able to manipulate the market for to try and profit off Van Eck’s destruction at the start of crooked kingdom HE CHOSE SUGAR.
The failure of the Sweet Reef job doesn’t only represent, to Kaz, the foolishness at being hoodwinked by Rollins again that he describes as causing such anger within himself whilst at the Van Eck house but also LITERALLY REFLECTS AND PROBABLY SERVES AS A CLEAR CUT REMINDER OF THE HERTZOON SCAM. We know Kaz is a pretty big on poetic justice (see Fillip and the wind up dogs torture/murder, stealing from the bank that was involved in the scam, the use of Alby against Rollins, etc) and I can’t help but wonder if that’s what this was intended to be in his mind, but there’s also the possibility that this wasn’t an active decision he made and only occurred to him afterwards when he saw Rollins and had that strange “sense of doubling” and saw both situations and both failures so clearly reflected and
okay I may have lost my point here I’m very tired idk how to end this um ta-dah and goodnight

Coffee Futures- Navigating the Volatile World of Commodity Trading
The global coffee market is an intricate web of farmers, exporters, importers, roasters, and retailers. But beyond the cups of morning joe lies a high-stakes world of commodity trading, where coffee futures attract traders with their volatility and profit potential. If you’re intrigued by this dynamic market, understanding the fundamentals and nuances of trading coffee futures is essential.
In this article, we’ll delve into the mechanics of coffee futures, the factors driving their volatility, and strategies for navigating this exciting yet unpredictable commodity.
What Are Coffee Futures?
Coffee futures are standardized contracts that obligate the buyer to purchase, or the seller to deliver, a specified amount of coffee at a predetermined price on a set future date. These contracts are primarily traded on exchanges like the Intercontinental Exchange (ICE).
Tumblr media
Coffee is classified into two main types for trading purposes:
Arabica: A higher-quality coffee grown at high altitudes, primarily in Latin America.
Robusta: A lower-cost, stronger-flavored coffee grown in regions like Vietnam and Brazil.
Arabica futures are the most traded contracts, representing a benchmark for global coffee prices.
Why Trade Coffee Futures?
Hedging: Producers, exporters, and importers use coffee futures to hedge against price fluctuations, ensuring stable income or costs.
Speculation: Traders profit from price movements without needing to own the physical commodity.
Diversification: Coffee futures offer an opportunity to diversify portfolios, as they often react differently to global economic trends compared to stocks or bonds.
The Volatility of Coffee Futures
Coffee futures are among the most volatile commodities. Prices can swing dramatically due to a variety of factors, including:
1. Weather Conditions
Coffee is highly sensitive to weather changes. For instance, frost in Brazil, the world’s largest coffee producer, can severely impact crops and drive prices sky-high.
2. Supply and Demand Dynamics
Supply: Coffee production depends on agricultural conditions, labor availability, and geopolitical stability in producing countries.
Demand: Global trends in coffee consumption, such as the rise of specialty coffee shops, influence demand.
3. Currency Fluctuations
Coffee is priced in U.S. dollars on global exchanges. Changes in the value of the dollar or local currencies of coffee-producing nations can impact trading prices.
Tumblr media
4. Geopolitical and Economic Factors
Political instability in key producing countries, trade tariffs, and global economic conditions can all lead to significant price changes.
How to Trade Coffee Futures
1. Understand the Market Basics
Familiarize yourself with the coffee industry, its supply chain, and major players. Understand seasonal patterns, such as peak harvest periods, which often influence price trends.
2. Choose a Trading Platform
Select a reliable trading platform offering access to ICE coffee futures. Ensure the platform provides analytical tools, charts, and real-time data to aid your decision-making.
3. Learn the Contract Specifications
For Arabica coffee on ICE:
Contract Size: 37,500 pounds
Tick Size: 5 cents per pound ($18.75 per tick)
Delivery Months: March, May, July, September, and December
4. Analyze the Market
Use a combination of:
Fundamental Analysis: Study supply-demand factors, weather reports, and global coffee consumption trends.
Technical Analysis: Examine price charts, trends, and indicators to identify potential entry and exit points.
5. Practice Risk Management
Set stop-loss orders to limit potential losses. Never trade more than you can afford to lose, as coffee’s volatility can lead to significant gains or losses.
Tumblr media
Trading Strategies for Coffee Futures
1. Seasonal Trends Strategy
Coffee prices often follow predictable seasonal patterns. For example, prices may rise during Brazil’s winter (May to August) due to the risk of frost.
2. News-Based Trading
Stay updated on coffee-related news, such as weather forecasts, production reports, or policy changes in major coffee-producing nations. Use this information to anticipate price movements.
3. Spread Trading
This involves buying and selling futures contracts with different delivery months to profit from price discrepancies. For example, you might buy a March contract while selling a July contract if you expect prices to rise in the near term.
4. Hedging with Options
Options on coffee futures allow you to hedge against adverse price movements while maintaining upside potential. Buying a put option, for instance, protects against falling prices.
Case Study: The Brazilian Frost of 2021
In July 2021, severe frost hit Brazil’s coffee-growing regions, significantly damaging crops. As a result, Arabica coffee futures surged to a seven-year high, with prices rising over 30% in just a few weeks.
For traders who anticipated the frost’s impact, this event provided substantial profit opportunities. It also highlighted the importance of monitoring weather patterns and staying prepared for sudden market shifts.
Risks of Coffee Futures Trading
While the potential rewards are attractive, coffee futures trading comes with inherent risks:
High Volatility: Rapid price changes can lead to significant losses if positions are not managed carefully.
Leverage Risk: Futures trading involves leverage, amplifying both gains and losses.
Knowledge Gap: Without a deep understanding of the market, traders can make costly mistakes.
Tips for Successful Coffee Futures Trading
Stay Informed: Follow coffee market reports, weather forecasts, and economic news.
Start Small: Begin with smaller positions to minimize risk as you learn the market’s intricacies.
Use Demo Accounts: Practice trading with virtual money before committing real capital.
Diversify Your Portfolio: Avoid overexposure to coffee by balancing your investments with other commodities or asset classes.
The Future of Coffee Futures
The coffee market is evolving, driven by sustainability concerns, climate change, and shifts in consumer preferences.
Sustainability: Growing demand for sustainably sourced coffee may influence production practices and costs.
Climate Change: Increasing climate unpredictability poses risks to coffee yields, likely amplifying price volatility.
Digital Trading: Advances in technology, such as AI-driven trading algorithms, are reshaping commodity trading.
As these trends unfold, the coffee futures market will remain a fascinating arena for traders seeking to capitalize on its unique dynamics.
Conclusion
Trading coffee futures offers a blend of challenge and opportunity. The market’s volatility, driven by factors ranging from weather to global demand, creates profit potential for well-prepared traders. By understanding the fundamentals, employing effective strategies, and practicing diligent risk management, you can navigate the exciting world of coffee futures with confidence.
Whether you’re a seasoned trader or a newcomer, coffee futures provide a dynamic way to engage with one of the world’s most beloved commodities. So, brew your knowledge, sip on some analysis, and prepare to trade in the thrilling coffee market.

kayla i cant stop thinking about bucktommy and this is partly your fault so i need you to take responsibility
OKAY SO DON'T THINK ABOUT BUCKTOMMY...
trying to coordinate their schedules because they work at different fire stations, but they both understand the job so, it's okay, they get it, only for them to finally find the time but are both so exhausted they just fall asleep and in the morning Buck makes crepes and they trade lazy morning kisses that taste like fresh whipped cream and berries
going to the farmer's market and Buck is charmed because Tommy knows so many vendors by names and these little old ladies are just as infatuated as Buck is because Tommy has helped them with their carts before and in return they adore Buck because they make Tommy smile
sharing clothes because they're roughly the same size and both of them being pleased with how the other looks in their clothes
learning about the small things - their coffee orders, if they prefer pancakes or waffles, what kind of detergent they use if they're a morning or a night person, etc
Tommy tracing all of Buck's tattoos late at night, memorizing how the ink looks on his sweaty skin as it cools
Buck asking Tommy about his scars and Tommy doesn't need to worry about freaking anyone out because they both understand the job Tommy asks about Buck's in return
Maddie and Chimney coming home to see two giant men sitting in tiny chairs and having a very serious tea party with Jee-Yun on one of the days when Uncle Buck babysits
Tommy getting hurt and how Buck worries so hard because he wasn't there and Tommy is in surgery and when he wakes up Buck is at his side and he talks about how worried he was that Tommy would leave and Tommy replying "why would I leave when I have someone to go home to?"
Buck inviting Tommy over to events with the 118 so he can share his family with Tommy
falling in love

oh to be alhaitham and kaveh's third roommate. less of a stray, more of a tax-paying citizen of sumeru city who mellows the two of them out. mediates by your nature.
you listen to kaveh's rants and ravings, let him show you his blueprints and new inspirations, and inspire him in kind with casual beauties you bring him. a padisarah in full bloom you found by the market. a seashell, found on the shores of yazahada pool, carried in from the ocean by the rivers current.
you sit quiet with alhaitham. you pet his hair after long days, lean against his side during the kinder ones. he likes when you read over his shoulder or have your nose in your own book. you start keeping a book of crossword puzzles on the coffee table, topped with a black ink pen, and you'll ask alhaitham to do one with you when the mood strikes.
(nsfw)
Tumblr media
you cow them both into being a bit more... reasonable with one and other. they're oil and water, sun and moon, sky and sea. you remind alhaitham that antagonizing kaveh with staunch logic isn't the best way to resolve a conflict. you remind kaveh that not everything he feels is a personal slight is intended to be taken in such a way.
you are the jar that hold the oil and water. the star bed that carries the sun and moon. solid earth that keeps the sky tethered and the sea close.
alhaitham takes your recommendation for books seriously-- dives into fiction at your request. his assistant at the akademiya catches him reading what could only be called a "smut novel" between meetings. kaveh drags you into the study and kisses you breathless on the comfy chaise lounge in the corner, pushing you into the cushions and telling you sweetly-- "stay just like that." sketches you. paints you. memorizes the contours and curves of you.
when you tumble into bed, it's a dance.
kaveh maps out the curves of you with soft, long-fingered hands. leaves scratches and opened-mouthed kisses in his wake. kaveh wants to feel you. the rush of heat that comes when he sucks a bruise into your neck. the breath that rushes from your lungs when you let out a pretty keen.
alhaitham wants to know you. wants to learn you in the most intimate way. he wants to know the best angles to crook his finger inside you, the positions that make your eyes roll back in your skull. there's something about rendering you-- someone so horribly intentional, kind, present-- into a puddle, at his hand, that alhaitham quietly adores. shows you, more than tells you. you never leave bed without a limp, or a drooling web of slick and spunk stickying your thighs.
you drag them close. glut yourself on them. watch starry eyes when they kiss, whimper at the way they both go weak for teasing. you spit in your palms and tug at them both, watch with a split smile when kaveh has to duck his head into alhaitham's neck. overcome with just a little touch.
it's all reciprocal. you trade teeth marks (and in alhaitham's case, chomps) and have a schedule for who cooks dinner each night. you link arms with kaveh on the way to the market and steal sips of alhaithams tea before bed. you all attempt to steal the duvet during the night, so you propose to invest in another to keep folded at the end of your shared mattress.
you're grateful, to have fallen into step with them

John is waiting for Lee on the porch of the farmhouse when he returns home from his honeymoon. He’d dropped you off at the end of the trail where Kayce had left the VW. You have to be at the conservation centre in Helena this afternoon to discuss the soil samples you took from Pasture 12. Lee intends to meet you afterwards to help you pack up your stuff for your move to the farmhouse.
It's the coffee cup in his father’s hand that pisses Lee off, it’s the chipped one from his kitchen. He can smell that special brand of coffee you like, the one you buy from the farmer’s market. This is John Dutton trying to send a message and Lee reads it loud and clear.
Nothing is yours, it all belongs to the ranch.
Lee doesn’t say anything as he sits down on the opposite side of the steps. If they’re going to talk about this, it’s going to be on equal terms because Lee, he will not stand before this man like a naughty child. He’s done bending to his father’s will.
“You left one hell of a mess for me to clean up.” John says taking a sip of his coffee as he stares out across the pasture.
Lee knows he’s talking about the angry phone calls he’s been receiving from ranchers since the news hit that Lee had gotten married, the ones that were trying to trade their daughters like cattle for a piece of the ranch.
“I never said I wanted a wife.” Lee reminds him as his gaze fixates on the cattle roaming in the distance.
“But you took one anyway.” John points out, his gaze coming to rest on Lee’s silver wedding band.
“I know you hate her…”
“I don’t hate her.” John tells Lee, setting his coffee cup down alongside him. “She’s just not right for the ranch.”
“But she’s right for me.” Lee says tucking his hands into the pockets of his jacket. “She was back then and she is now.”
There’s silence between the two of them for a moment before John sighs.
“I had someone like that.” He says quietly. “A long time ago I had to make a decision between the woman I love and what was best for the ranch.”
“You mean Lou.” Lee says and John tilts his head towards him in surprise. “I saw the two of you together after mom died, I heard what you said about how you loved her, how you’d always loved her.”
Lee has known from a young age that his mother and father didn’t act like other parents. There was always a coldness between the two of them, a practicality. It wasn’t until the night of the wake when he saw his father interact with Lou that he realised why. John hadn’t been able to take his eyes off her during the event, he held onto her hands a little too long when she gave him her condolences and that night after everyone else had left, he’d undressed her in the room his wife hadn’t shared in years.
Lee doesn’t know what happened after that, only his father is now in a causal relationship with Governor Perry  and Lou sells honey at the farmer’s market with her twenty six year old son, Joesph.
“The men in our family, they don’t marry for love.” John says quietly. “We marry for duty and that’s what I need you to do.”
“What are you saying?” Lee asks him, his voice barely more than a whisper.
“When I get back to the house, I’ll have Jamie draw up an annulment, voiding the marriage.” John says clasping his hands together. “After that we’ll pick someone more appropriate, someone whose the right fit.”
Lee can’t speak, his eyes sting as he pulls the keys to the farmhouse out from his pocket and dumps them into his father’s lap.
“I’m not leaving Anna.” He says, his voice raw with emotion as he raises to his feet. “You took twenty years from the two of us, you don’t get to have the rest.”

Coffee, Stocks, and Staying Energized in a Chaotic Market
For stock traders, coffee is more than just a drink—it’s a lifeline. The markets are unpredictable, chaotic, and often unforgiving, and you need focus, energy, and patience to keep up. When every decision counts and every moment matters, having the right tools—including a strong cup of coffee—makes all the difference. In fact, coffee has become as essential to traders as their screen setup, trading platform, and market indicators.
There’s a reason caffeine and market analysis go hand-in-hand. Coffee fuels those early mornings and late nights, providing the mental edge to dive into charts, track indicators, and make split-second decisions. Trading demands a combination of alertness and calm, and there’s nothing like a hot brew to keep you focused when the market swings. If you’re looking for a way to bring even more personality to your desk, the Stonks Coffee Mug is the perfect companion, reminding you to keep it cool—even when the numbers don’t.
Stock traders know that the market waits for no one. While others are hitting snooze, traders are analyzing overnight movements, prepping for market open, and scanning global news for potential impacts. Having a dedicated morning routine with coffee as the cornerstone isn’t just about habit—it’s about optimizing performance. That first sip of coffee acts as a ritualistic cue, signaling it’s time to dive deep into analysis, make sense of price movements, and set up the game plan for the day. It’s all about creating the right headspace, and the right coffee mug can make even a tough day feel a little lighter.
Let’s face it: there are days when the market is kind, and days when it’s downright brutal. Coffee helps soften the blow, allowing traders to sit back, breathe, and regroup before the next move. Whether you’re celebrating gains or regrouping after a loss, a bold cup of joe can be a grounding force. And for those tough days when you’re staring at red on the screen, a coffee mug that brings a bit of humor can be just what you need to keep your spirits up. The Stonks Coffee Mug isn’t just a drink holder; it’s a small reminder not to take things too seriously and that even in trading, it’s okay to laugh at the ups and downs.
So, whether you’re diving into the market at 7 AM or closing out the day with a final cup, coffee and stocks have more in common than you might think. Both require energy, dedication, and a little bit of boldness. Next time you take a sip, remember that you’re not just drinking coffee—you’re fueling your next big trade.

I found a collection of clipped images of vintage ads, and let me tell you these are hilarious with no context.
Tumblr media
Dude on the left doesn't give a shit about what you think of him. "Whatever, I'm still going to drink my coffee with my breakfast ass-pastries." Dude on the right is offended. "Really? Right in front of my heroin?"
Tumblr media
All your mental health troubles can be cured by having a talk with the drunk girl sitting on the floor of a dive bar bathroom. Like the modern oracle, she dispels wisdom.

Do not cut off your nose to spite your face! Let us do it for you! Experience the highest end quality of plastic surgery that the 1930s technology can offer! If the war didn't blow your nose off, we can make it look like it sure did!

Are you too refined, sophisticated and dapper? Would you rather have the rough and manly, beastly airs of the salt trade sailor you sucked off behind the town market three days ago while he called you his pretty little slut? Our doctors can help you.
Tumblr media
This is also a good way to get not only your nose, but your entire face professionally fucked up.
Tumblr media
Trust me bro this is a different strain. It won't happen again this time bro trust me I swear.
Tumblr media
Dude if she gives you that look you better zip it back up before she figures out how to politely tell you how disappointed she is. She came here for the thrill of her life and that's not it.
Tumblr media
Nevermind, she was too polite to break it to you.
Tumblr media
Live footage of the last coherent thought escaping my brain when my meds wear off.
Tumblr media
Have you lived your entire life woefully lacking of dandruff? Fear not, for relief is here! Finally, you can have the same alluring scalp snow as the heinous bitch your husband left you for.
Tumblr media
FALSE! I literally never shut the fuck up.
Tumblr media
The money-eating giraffe will fuck you. That is a promise.
Tumblr media
Successfully fucked by the giraffe, evidently.
Tumblr media
Another satisfied customer. He won't even mind that the beast ate all his money.
Tumblr media
This poor guy just missed the giraffe. By a thread. He was out of town already when this poor man got the news. His entire year is ruined.

Do you crave the chaotic rush of a manic outburst, but do not have the inherent mechanisms of naturally mania-inducing mental illness? Try AMPHETAMINE! You will be full of ideas, and know for sure what you're going to be doing for the next three months! Disclaimer: The ideas you will have on amphetamine are not guaranteed to be good ideas. And you're probably spending the next three months in jail.
Tumblr media
You know you're sick you dirty little bowlcut slut.
Tumblr media
"Fuck. This. Shit."
Tumblr media
This one came in-built with a weirder fucking caption than I could come up with. Nothing can top this. Not even the giraffe.

Hi 💝 yuta okkotsu + coffee + green
yuuta okkotsu x reader
c: timeskip yuuta, fluff, feels
Tumblr media
It’s not the warm, gentle breeze filtering in through the window that stirs you from sleep—nor is it the insistent chittering of the birds perched in the tree nearby, or the bright morning sunlight that floods across your rumpled sheets.
—it’s the fragrant smell of coffee wafting through the house, your tired eyes flying open the moment the scent hits you.
You don’t drink coffee.
Throwing back the sheets, you stumble out of bed and dash out of the room.
You don’t drink coffee.
The laminate flooring squeaks beneath your bare feet as you skid to a stop in the kitchen, heart clumsily skipping a beat at the sight of the man leaning back against the counter, an ugly, green mug with a chip in it clutched in one hand.
It’s hideous, really—it looks woefully out of place amongst every other cup lined up in your cabinets.
It was presumptuous of whomever made it in the first place, to think someone would want to drink out of something such an unpleasant shade of green.
—that’s exactly what you said when you plucked it up off of the shelf in a flea market stall years ago, laughing so hard at the agreeing frown on Yuuta’s face that it went clattering to the ground. Still not quite past the boundaries of friendship at the time, you’d both been flustered when you bumped heads and brushed hands as you dove to the floor to rescue it before the old woman sitting at the register nearby could notice.
And naturally, rather than letting you sneak the ugliest mug in the world back on the unfortunate shelf from whence it came, Yuuta insisted on buying it once he realized that you’d chipped it.
It’s such a goddamn ugly mug.
—and you’ll keep it forever, probably.
He smiles at you conspiratorially over the rim.
You don’t drink coffee, but he does.
“You’re home,” you whisper, biting your lower lip to suppress the size of the grin spreading across your face as you look at Yuuta. “A week early.”
The black strands of hair that frame his face have grown longer in the months that he’s been away, and you step forward, unable to deny yourself the need to card your fingers through the soft locks. Yuuta hums, his posture relaxing under the weight of your familiar touch, the looseness in his shoulders at odds with the dark circles that linger below his lower lashes.
You’ve missed him so much—so much that it hurts, a splintering ache that’s settled deep in your bones.
“And you’re up early,” he muses, eyes sparkling with mirth as he reaches up and prods at a rogue strand of your sleep-mussed hair.
One of his hands comes to rest along the curve of your hip, the steady, seeping pang in your chest giving way under the warm pressure of his touch fluttering along your nerve endings.
You roll your eyes fondly and lament, “I just couldn’t resist the smell of hot bean water.”
Yuuta’s tongue darts out, passing over his lips, and he huffs, fingertips skating along your collarbone. A shiver dances down your spine as he drags them up the side of your neck, middle finger tracing the curve of your jaw before he finally takes your chin between his thumb and pointer finger.
“Morning breath,” you grimace, despite the emotions swelling inside of you at the soft promise of his mouth hovering inches away.
“Don’t care,” he murmurs, brushing his thumb over your bottom lip. “Coffee breath?”
“Don’t care,” you echo.
Yuuta laughs, the noise reverberating through the kitchen and dripping like honey down the taut, yearning strings of your heart.
It’s a rich, beautiful sound.
One you’d do anything to hear.
One you’d trade for nothing—save for the quiet that follows when his lips finally find yours.
